LA JOLLA, Calif. –Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped the series opener against UC San Diego on Friday night by an 8-4 final score at Triton Ballpark. The Titans drop to 17-26 and 10-9 in Big West play.
Fullerton took an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run triple from JT Navyac to score Zach Lew and Brendan Bobo.

UC San Diego got on the board with one run late in the third before scoring four runs in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.
Jackson Lyon smashed a two-run homer in the top half of the fifth inning to put the Titans within one run, trailing 5-4. Lyon now has a tie for six home runs this season.

The Newts extended their lead late in the seventh inning, scoring three runs to take an 8-4 lead.
Tyler Stultz (4-3) tied for Fullerton after allowing eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out four in six innings of work. Ryan Forcucci (2-4) took the win, pitching seven innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out nine.
Cal State Fullerton is looking to bounce back in Game 2 of the series on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch is set at 2:00 p.m.
