You’re all set to refresh your workout wardrobe and stock up on cute and comfy tennis skirts, dresses and polo bras. From fluidity to ease of wear, what’s not to love about tennis outfits? So in honor of this racket of a trend, I tested the Year of Ours tennis collection in the sticky summer heat and humidity (that’s brutal there, guys!) and have an honest review for yourself. Summer heat has nothing on this tennis dress

Fabric, fabric, fabric! Choosing the right fabric that actually lives up to its “moisture wicking” description can be a struggle, especially in the height of summer when you literally can’t stop sweating. One study looked at how moisture-wicking fabric can impact an individual’s perceptual and physiological responses when training in hot weather. Research has concluded that the more you exercise, the more evaporation and ventilation properties of a moisture-wicking garment can help preserve your body temperature in a hot environment. Needless to say, sweat-wicking clothing is required.

Enter, the Racer tennis dress from Year of Ours. I wore this dress — which comes with attached shorts — for an entire afternoon biking through Tupelo, Mississippi in 100-degree heat. Obviously, I was sweating, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this dress lived up to its moisture-wicking promise. Hands down, this fabric gets an A+ from me.

The dress is available in heather grey, white and black, sizes XS to XL, and even comes with a 7 inch slit in the front (because slits are then right now). You can easily go from the tennis court to an outdoor workout or even run errands straight to brunch or wherever the day takes you. Honestly, this dress is even comfy enough to wear on the plane with a comfy crew neck sweatshirt. And the look is so trendy.

Step up your game in multiple ways with this Tennis Skort + Polo Tank Top

Year of Ours Summer Collection Side-by-Side Tennis Outfits

The YOS Jersey tennis skort paired with the brand’s Gabriella tank top is the ultimate pairing when you step onto the court. I love the neutral color choices that you can totally rock all summer long, but also well into fall. The skort and tank top are available in heather grey, white and black, in sizes from XS to XL. I opted for black, one of my favorite classic choices for workout cuts.

First, let’s talk about fit. If you love high waisted leggings, biker shorts and skorts, you’ll really appreciate how this tennis skort hugs your body. It comes in at the perfect height to keep everything in its place, whether you’re jumping, jogging or hitting balls. I would say both pieces are true to size.

Next, let’s talk about aesthetics. If your style is preppy, you’ll love the polo tank top. I’m usually a sports bra and crop top type, but I have to say I loved the change. You can leave the tank top over the skort or tuck it in. And finally, the slit on the skort is alluring and fun, serving as the cherry topping to the entire look.
