The island’s gymnastics training school held its first home meet of the season on Saturday. The âGood Luckâ competition, so named for St. Patrick’s Day, featured four teams of gymnasts divided according to their level. The teams were coached by Beth Goodell and Nora Fuson.
The first of each team were: Pedro Alves (Leprechauns boys), Grace Voshell (Rainbows), Sara Goodale (Four Leaf Clovers), Molly Crawford (Junior Pot o ‘Gold) and Rose Herman (Senior Pot o’ Gold). The results of the meeting follow.
Leprechauns: Eli Aronie placed third on high bar with a 7.6; Gabriel Slossberg placed first in vault with an 8.4; August Warner placed first on high bar at 9.0 and second overall at 48.65. Pedro Alves placed first in four of the six men’s events, with his highest score on p bars, 9.0, and first in the all-around at 52.3. The team finished fourth.
Rainbow: Eleanora Duncheva tied for second on bars at 7.6. Stela Duncheva placed fourth in vault with an 8.45. Eirene “Pickle” Eville placed first on beam with 8.9 and third in the all-around at 33.05. Gabrielle Guimaraes placed second in three of the four events, with her highest scores on beam and vault, both 8.7, and second in the all-around at 33.35. Grace Voshell placed first in vault, beam and floor; her highest score was on bars, 9.0, and she finished first in the all-around at 35.15. The team placed third.
Four Leaf Clovers: Maeve Cook Martin was first in vault with 9.0 and fourth in all around at 34.0. Elizabeth Carbon was second on bars at 8.85 and third in the all-around at 34.6. Amy Maeda placed first on bars at 8.9 and second in the all-around at 34.9. Sara Goodale was first on beam and floor at 9.0, and first in the all-around at 35.35. The team placed second.
Pot o ‘Gold Team (Juniors and Seniors): For the Junior Golds, Arianna Edelman placed first on floor with 9.1, second on vault with 8.4 and third in all-around at 34.1. Emily Boyd placed first in vault with 8.6, second on bars and beam with 9.1 and 8.3 respectively and second in all-around at 34.3. Molly Crawford placed first on beam and bars at 9.2 and 9.5 respectively, second on floor at 8.85 and first in the all-around at 35.85.
For senior gold medals, Alexa Schroeder was second on bars and floor at 8.6 and 8.9, and tied for second at 34.6. Michaela Benefit was second in vault and beam at 8.6 and 9.0, and tied for second in the all-around at 34.6. Rose Herman placed first in all four events: Vault 9.5, Bars 9.3, Beam 9.4 and Floor 9.25. She finished first in the all-around with 37.45.
The Pot o ‘Gold team placed first.
